Unlocking the potential of the right to repair in the EU

The EU now prioritizes the “Right to Repair” in Europe with a coalition of over 130 organizations’ support. As of February 2nd, the law mandates member countries to enhance repair rates, encourages independent repair by ensuring reasonable pricing for original parts, and introduces a ban on restrictive software practices, among other provisions. While the EU aims for broader “Right to Repair” coverage and plans to establish an online platform for repair solutions, there are lingering concerns about intellectual property rights for businesses and manufacturers. Understanding how materials flow in Australia

The recent report released by CSIRO conducting a material flow analysis in Australia reveals some startling facts: the country’s material usage exceeds the global average by fourfold, and the circularity factor is measured and reported to be 4%. The report explores sectors like transportation, housing, and food, also pinpointing opportunities for adopting principles of circular economy. Additionally, it emphasizes the urgent need for innovative waste management solutions, highlighting the critical link between sustainability and economic prosperity. Read more here

World Circular Economy Forum 2024 – Turning circular visions into actions! – World Circular Economy Forum 2024 (WCEF2024) will be held in April 2024 in Brussels, Belgium focusing on exploring the benefits of circular solutions and fostering discussions on key enablers that drive the circular transition. There are multiple Accelerator sessions and side events organizedby the WCEF that you should not miss!
